IDOXLR8 Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 It's simple... I have had this account for a couple of months. I like the features and simplicity... I have a registered domain... idoxlr8.com... Pointed my dns and all is working fine... I can access my site.... Both sites are running same version of Joomla... I need to import the contents of my old site into the new... The Old let me export... The new will not... Plain and simple... Any Suggestions, maybe an admin could help out? Thanks idoxlr8.com
Wizard Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Joomla? Shouldn't you be asking the joomla folks and not us?
IDOXLR8 Posted February 2, 2009 Author Posted February 2, 2009 Joomla? Shouldn't you be asking the joomla folks and not us? Thanks for replying... I would but... seems to be a hosting problem not a Joomla problem. Here are the specifics... Cpanel/ phpMyadmin... Loads a new page... phpMyadmin says I have No Privileges... Click on the "sql" button to import my database and... "uncheck" "show this query here again".... Next Click the "import files Tab"... Browse for my backup sql database and upload it... I press "Go" //=====================// Error SQL query: -- -- Database: `idoxlr8_joomla` -- CREATE DATABASE `idoxlr8_joomla` DEFAULT CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci; MySQL said: Documentation #1007 - Can't create database 'idoxlr8_joomla'; database exists //=====================// Ok lets go delete the empty joomla database... Back to cPanel and I click on MysqlDatabases Link... Do you need captures? I delete my idoxlr8_joomla database... again cause I know it won't work... but I hit delete anyways... Its gone... Are you sure you wish to permanently remove idoxlr8_joomla database? Yes... Go back to cpanel on...and on... and on... The problem is not having permissions to import my database... I'm probably missing something... Thanks Thanks tho...
Wizard Posted February 2, 2009 Posted February 2, 2009 Did you make sure that your old database is readable?
Malmoth Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 It just seems like the old database is not deleted... But I assume you've been through every step and checked the whole process before you post here, over and over again. And I also assume the same error has been plaguing the database creation step since your first try, and that you haven't created the database manually beforehand, at the first try. So, I think this could have something to do with the phpMyAdmin configuration, which pretty much leaves you out of an option till djbob handles the issue. But if I may suggest something: There's also a way off shot, which I doubt to be the case, that MySQL may sometimes have a problem parsing large chunks of SQL statement blocks having comments in them. I suggest you just copy and paste the code instead of uploading and importing it from your computer directly. Then remove the comment lines, and give it a try... This could also prevent any possible CR/LF problems (in case you're working on Windows or Mac OS on your local computer) which I've also experienced in the past. I hope this helps..
IDOXLR8 Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 Thanks guys. It is a rights issue. I've decided to try and start over. My database only had a little over 100 articles in it along with my Joomla Config. It shouldnt be that bad. Just time consuming. On another note... I've noticed that the server was down today. Is all well? I hope... Thanks again. Ill post back when I can see the light again... Thanks
