Ashoat
Yah but my friend leases nice shiny servers starting at $25 a month But they're actually VPSes... close...
HerLoss
Ok... so whats the difference?
Ashoat
There are actually multiple VPSes on one server, but they function exactly like a dedicated server. Each one has its own OS, software, they have different IPs, you can't pass viruses between, etc. They just have less RAM, space, etc.
HerLoss
So basically, its a single server computer, with a partitioned hard drive, and each partition acts as a mini server?
Kyougi
Exactly Herloss =) But the thing is, alot of VPS I've seen, the single computer is connected by one line to the net, and the multiple accts that are on it share it >.<
Ashoat
Hmmm...? It's supposed to be one computer... and I've never heard of multiple net connections...
Kyougi
I am saying only one computer, compared to a dedicated server, and multiple net connections are possible (Such as two T1 connections is T1 x 2).
Ashoat
Whatever, I think its fine
awesomegamer
if you could have them put up ads themselves, have a script search for a string in the html code to see if it is present. im not good with server coding but thats my creativity for this. Ashoat
I guess its possible, but I don't know how. But I want it to automatically place.
xammy
too bad the contest is over I have a cPanel account, and I'm planning to give a free blog hosting I know I can set this using .htaccess files, so each user under my account will have ads displayed anywhere you want. mostly, banner ads on top, or bottom. and i just found a wordpress plugins which can enables you to place google ads anywhere without editing the source code, or placing the full tags. just put a line of code (eg. <--google ads--> ) and the ads will shows there. haven't try it yet, but I'm sure with a little modification, you can add the sripts as your forced ads, and let your members decide, where they wanna put the banner, or on top by default. my friends once have this scripts to let his members place the banner ads in any place, any color and any dimensions. I dunno if I can get a copy

eTronicGaming
But how's that neocromancing if he's willing to help? He's not spamming. Also, this might just help... we haven't got it to work for accounts have we? (I know we got them here on the forums but not each individual site)
lappy512
I've actually gotten them working using HTACCESS, and PHP parsing for html pages, and DJBOB didn't like my idea. It worked, but he didn't want to use it. I think he's going to use mod_layout for the ads.
