I've actually heard it's not as good as it's hyped up to be, but I don't have one so I probably wouldn't know.

Doesn't matter, cause I can just carry around my laptop, cell phone, watch, video ipod, internet router, camera, video camcorder and kitchen sink with me wherever I need to.

I wasn't really all that frazzled by the touch screen. It's a cool feature, but is it worth the extra $100 over a PDA with a phone attatched? It's also not very friendly as a phone in general. It'd be cool, I wouldn't turn one down for even $350 or so, but... $450-600? That's far too much.

Well, the way I figure it, if you JUST want the phone as an mp3 player, it's better just to get the iPod Touch. Else, you'll be paying at least $1,800 for a two year plan.

The iPhone is just like everything else Apple makes. You can get a better quality product that does everything Apple's does and more for a lower price from someone else. Other companies make touchscreen, wi-fi phones that are also media players for less money that also have sound recording capabilities, full QWERTY keyboards, self-replaceable batteries and other features that Apple doesn't offer.
