Formating And Design

Hey,

 

I am in the process making a blog/portfolio as creative outlet for photography. At the moment I am modifying my wordpress theme heavily. Before I put the site into beta and start blogging and such i would like your opinions on the site's visuals and layout.

 

I started with this theme "Canvas" by Woo themes on the magazine template.

And I ended up with this

*Just note that some links to facebook or twitter might not work. Also the side bar is incomplete. Odds are I will add and subtract some widjets.'

Nice work, it looks neat and well organized! If I understand correctly, you are a photographer, correct? After looking through the home page, that was slightly unclear. Perhaps adding a slideshow of your work where the large image at the top might help to make this fact a bit more clear. Once again, awesome job!

Thanks! Btw where that large image located is a slider. It shows featured posts or whatever i want. Right now i only have dummy content on the site so only one image is only being displayed.

 

Is there anything besides that you think needs adding?

Try to make the corners of the photo round as it looks much better that a square photo.

Do you mean you created the borealtrek.com site also? If so, that is an awesome looking site. Good job.

 

I like Canvas as well. Nice, clean and organized.

Xwinuser http://borealtrek.com is going to be my blog/portfolio. I know the name sounds odd but it is better then nolan.com or nolanphotography.com . I find domains like that are lame and easy to forget. Boreal Trek means northern adventure and brings to mind the boreal forest in Canada. That is mainly what I like to do and shoot so I figured it was appropriate good name considering most decent TLD's are taken already.

Is Nolan your name or just something you used for that example? NolanPhotography.com doesn't sound bad at all. But I like borealtrek.com too. Gonna book mark the site.

Yeah thats my name and true in some respects but I just find it cliche. There are like a million "insert name here" photography sites on the web and business in IRL.
