HelioHost Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Username: N/A, Server: N/A, Main Domain: N/AHi there!, apologies if this isn't the right place to ask about this, but I'm writing because I'm currently working towards hosting my own email server, I'm trying to get away from gmail and i couldn't really find an option that suits my needs (i tried using a different provider for this email, fedora.email, but it was blocked due to "the very low reputation of the sending domain") I was looking for a VPS to host it, and I found your site, it's refreshing seeing a hosting service that isn't filled to the brim with the usual buzzwords (AI powered integration for growth and blah blah blah), so I'm thinking about hosting my email server there My question is, what plan do you recommend for hosting it?, I don't think I would need a ton of memory since I don't plan on receiving a lot of mail (apart from registrations or silly messages my friends would send me); I also plan on using either mail-in-a-box or mailcow for the server itself in case that's a factor on choosing the right plan Thank you and apologies for any nuisance
wolstech Posted March 1 Posted March 1 Mail in a box looks like it should run on a mercury plan, though you may want to go for a Mars plan if you want the extra disk space. An extra GB of RAM might not be a bad idea either as the recommended requirements suggest 2GB, but you can always upgrade this later. Mailcow is bloated and probably won’t run well on the cheaper VPS plans due to being designed around docker. Docker adds quite a bit of overhead.
